Course 1: Cyberstalking on Our Campuses: Implications for Higher Education Practice and Policy

Description:
With the increased use of technology such as Facebook, MySpace, and texting on campuses, college and university administrators need to be prepared for increased cybercrimes such as cyberstalking. Cyberstalking, a technological form of stalking, is a growing trend. In order to better understand Cyberstalking, knowledge of Title IX, which is most often associated with equality in athletics, is necessary. This course will explore the issue of cyberstalking, including modes of cyberstalking, and the current Title IX policies concerning online sexual harassment and cyberstalking. Special attention will be paid to current trends, key cases, decisions, and rulings, and regulations from the U.S. Department of Education.

Course 2: Training, Developing, and Connecting with Student Judicial/Hearing Boards

This interactive course will focus on training, developing, and connecting with student judicial/hearing boards from the perspective of student conduct professionals at two public institutions. Participants will review, reflect, and discuss common challenges and successes related to working with hearing boards, while focusing on traditional and innovative training techniques. Facilitators will provide perspectives from student conduct professionals at two institutions in the Midwest, one with 31,000 students and the other with 10,500. The material will be ideal for new professionals and/or aspiring directors who are just beginning to work with judicial boards.
